Hot dogs are the fashion in some quarters of Seoul but not as popular as a Big Mac.

Grunting should be punished by death. No appeals to the High Court. An instant court martial and a bullet to the head.

Oh yes, Mr Rudd, tell us your concerns for the nation by pulling the plug on pay rises for MPs this year. Oh yes, Mr Rudd, tell us how nasty Little Liar left us with ... forget what the Little Liar did. What astonishes me is that you can get those extra perks just by snapping your pudgy fingers. Baby sitter? Not impressed, Mr Rudd, not impressed!

Tony Abbott started the trend and it's making me sick. It's this lip-smacking thing with a thick ssffssthissfft sound of wet lips opening before words are sprayed. Many of our female celebs are doing it ... collagen-style. But Tony doesn't need botox or collagen to effect this sound.... something akin to a wet envelope being torn open.

Govt officials should be responsible for their actions

Government ministers, officials and employees with authority should be, at law, responsible for their actions just as we, as individuals, are accountable, under law, for our own actions. It is time for authorities to take responsibility for their actions and omissions when others, under law dependent upon these officials, are put into situations at risk.DOCS and Centrelink are the two main contributors to public angst. If a mediacl practitioner commits an error he or she is accountable at law.So should government officials as they, no less than the doctors of medicine, hold people's lives in their hands.

Poor Brendan Nelson! Following the Little Liar will not be easy for Nelson. He should have distanced himself from the Howard 'legacy' of hate and divisiveness. But wasn't it great that the Little Liar was absent yesterday?

You can include REX [Regional Express] among the hopeless airline companies. I would rather walk than travel by Jetsar or REX.

This Labor NSW government is in crisis. For the first time in my life I am contemplating, and I will if Iemma is left in charge of our state, a vote for the state coalition. NSW is in such a mess; Reba is critically hopeless and should never have been elected, let alone put in charge of our health; transport is something we avoid, like never travel by train if you're serious about getting anywhere on time; if you apply for a job with the NSW public service, like me, you can expect to wait almost a year before the state employers let you know if you have been selected for a job or not; I could go on and on but I am not usually given to long-winded letters ... so ... hypocrisy is just one in a litany of hopeless cases we experience with the state government.

All we need now is to remove Karl Stephanovic, Michael Slater from the cricket commentary, and have all the presenters re-taught how to speak Australian.

So far the art of speech is dominated by a cabala of half wits and aunties who crave discussion without discussion. Freedom of discussion is something that one tolerates; Fascism permits of no discussion but seeks concurrence no matter what. Dave, you and your curtained whore know nought about free speech.

Yanks bastardise sound

Oh dear! You have opened a very lartge can of worms for me. I ... oh heavens ... don't get me started ... or, alternatively, don't start me. The American way of pronunciation is an international curse; not so much in the way Americans mispronounce just about everything English, but the sycophantic way other nationalities ape this American sound. I watched the Australian Open [Tennis] the other week and Jim Courier, in his usual awful manner, calls Jokovic Joe Kuvich. Now, we all know Jokovic is pronounced Jock oh vich, but the malleable Aussie commentator succumbed to Courier's mispronunciation and began calling Jokovic Joe Kuvich. Once Courier had gone, the Aussie recanted and returned to the more acceptable Jock oh vich. I reflected as to why so many American Hispanics allow Americans to mispronounce the simple name Carlos. It becomes Car Low zz ... the oh sound becomes owe and the ss sound becomes zz. What can one do in face of this perversion of sound? I also cast my web about the commentators and media 'personalities' in whichever country I exist and try to get them to realise how awful the American bastardisation of sound has become.I like the American sound in its context but the coca-colonisation of English and culture in an international context is baffling to me and I have studied this phenomenon to doctoral dissertation level.
