I am not impressed with Chinese calling Australia a loser. Having been a good friend of Zhongguo for 40 years I am upset by the changing character of Chinese leaders. Suddenly we old friends of China feel repulsed by the behaviour and words of current leaders and editorials.

Bali Boy and His Lousy Greedy Parents

I said it yesterday and I say it again today..the Bali boy's parents are stupid, greedy and irresponsible. Don't blame Bali if this kid is gaoled. I would send the police to his parents' place and put them on notice and let the Bali court see that we Australians take this matter very very seriously and that dope does not earn rewards from Channel Nine

NSW Police Are Ruthless Thugs

As a former policeman I am disgusted by our police. They are so quick to shoot. They need examining as does the whole NSW police system. When I was a cop we didn't even wear our pistols outside our uniform; we were so conscious of the effect that weapons have on ordinary citizens. But today's cops revel in the fear they create among citizenry.

Islam in Australia

Masha Allah for clarifying our religion for other Australians. I grew up as a Catholic when Protestants treated us as second class nobodies. Australia, InshAllah, has advanced beyond that. I go to the footy with Jewish mates and we roast one another in typical Aussie fashion. There's no mystery. No subterfuge. We are not the Middle East. We are Australia and Islam contributes to our country as does Catholicism or Buddhism or Judaism. Salam or shalom..is all peace!

LOCKYER

I heard on Today the speculation that Manly would 'target' Lockyer. Obviously these offering this speculation have no idea of football players. Players generally are reluctant to tackle hard another player who is suffering an injury. Players are not like the Broncos centre who ignored Morris's obvious plight and crashed onto the grounded Dragon. Most players respect others who are injured. Lockyer's playing on this weekend actually inhibits Manly from too tough play against the champion Bronco captain.

China

Zao shang hao

In 1968 I wrote a military thesis on Mao Zedong. While researching I discovered that China was drawing me into its world, its history and culture, and its future.

Back then I declared: China is the future!

In 2004 I made my first of seven journeys to China and I have been back every year since.

China is an incredible place. Make no mistake about this: China is so interesting and varied that a thousand journeys could not cover the magic and finger-tingling excitement of its peoples and places.

As for Chinese people ... no written description could account for the immense satisfaction I get from simply walking in China and meeting Chinese citizens.

You never feel lonely in China. Strangers become pengyoumen [friends] at the drop of a hat.

No wonder Chairman Mao was inspired to work for the good of the common man, for in China humanity is displayed in all its generous proportions.

RANC

I was publicly and ceremonially caned on the posterior in 1961 at the Royal Australian Naval College, Jervis Bay, for admitting to smoking a Benson and Hedges cigarette, a cigarette that had been offered to me by an officer instructor, and had been a reward for baby sitting his kids.
Only two of us admitted to smoking while the majority of our class of 32 failed to own up to that criminal act.
As a matter of naval history, 8 of the 32 were killed while training; 3 in Voyager and five on Hayman Island.

Oz ARMY NAVY AIR FORCE

I was a cadet midshipman [1960-1] at RANC Jervis Bay. Out of a class of 32, 8 were killed on duty by 1964. I was fortunate enough to be made aware of the iniquities of service life when I was publicly and ceremonially caned for owning up to smoking a Benson and Hedges cigarette. Two of us owned up when the entire class was also guilty.
Why was I fortunate? I resigned from the navy. I am alive, am a non-smoker and am very sympathetic to the young female cadet.

I am appalled that Chairman Mao's memory would be placed in the hands of an inexpert person such as a developer. Chairman Mao represents more than history; he stood for much that is still valued today, even by laowai such as myself. This is not the jing pei that is the due to Mao Zedong.

Mao helped Australia survive Japan in WW2

My thesis on Mao [1968] attributed to the Chinese Communist Party a large debt by Australia in that without Mao's 4th and 8th armies containing the Japanese during the Second World War in north China, the Japanese would have been able to more effectively achieve their war aim to control Australia's mineral wealth.
We Australians owe China and our relationship is a lot stronger than many realise. Our second largest ethnic group is Chinese and our history is integrated far more deeply than it is with America.

Israel: From Theft of Palestine

The theft of Palestine by the International Community for the purpose of establishing a completely new and foreign political entity was, in my opinion, the most dangerous precedent in modern world politics. It said to the world, these foreigners from Europe and all over the world have more prestige than you Palestinians and have more entitlement to your land than you do.
This justified the grand theft of Palestine.
Okay! It;s time to reverse that dreadful decision and to return Palestine to the Palestinians. No ifs or buts...all of Palestine.

Recognition for Kashmir

Ahmad Bin Abdullah: InshAllah! Kashmir will be independent from a rule that has crossed the line so any times it is a crime that India has not been brought before an international tribunal.
I am for Kashmir independence and I myself, a foreigner, will not be satisfied until that date becomes now.
But it takes such exhausting diplomacy and timeless patience to gain that international recognition that is itself a prerequisite for independence.

In today's geopolitical world, there is a floating morality that at times seems brutal. What yesterday was fashionable, is today forgotten. Kashmir should never be forgotten. But it will remain on the outskirts of geopolitical interest if it is perceived to be not fit for recognition.Exposing India's crimes and attempts at genocide [UN definition] is a most important job and it inspires me that so many Kashmir people on FB are engaged in this noble mission.

Espousing Kashmir as a place not only heavenly but full of noble persons would be a wise parallel mission.
And in my observation that would not be a difficult job.
You have my respect.

Respect other religions

Not so! You think I am a recent convert? In so many countries with Muslim populations so many Muslims, when speaking English, refer to Allah as God. It is an English [Anglo Nordic word, not a Christian word].
You, Jet Rider, use a small c when you refer to Christians yet Jesus [PBUH] was the penultimate Prophet of Allah. You should use a capital C if you have to be perfectly correct. God is not a Christian word. Jehovah is used both by Jews and Christians and God is also used by non-Christian religions.
For your information the term Allah is also used by some Christian religions.
You should check your facts before telling me what is right and what is wrong.
InshAllah you will show more respect.

I love perverse logic! It makes me laugh. The Zionists defend the demolition of the home of former so-called pro-Nazi Palestinian Haj Amin al-Husseini, on the grounds that it would be racist to deny Jews the right to won a home and do whatever they want with it .... in THEIR OWN HOMELAND!!!!
It is as if the former Palestinian leader had abrogated his rights to his homeland, which is Palestine, was Palestine and is gaining international recognition as the State of Palestine

Edward Said and Threat Perception

Edward Said's Orientalism captured the way imperialism cast a stigma upon that which was not of the imperial hub. Consider the words uttered by Poms: 'Aw but he's a good Pakky!' The inference is the 'good Pakky' is an exception.
The Pakistani in Britain has to order his life to suit the imperial mind. If he does, then he gets a 'good chappie' pat on the back. If, however, there are 'too many Mosques' and 'too many dark-skinned people' in the neighbourhood, then the 'threat perception' takes hold of the imperial psyche.

Don't blame Satan for Israel

I wouldn't blame Satan... the blame rests purely and simply with those racist Israelis who see others as unworthy of consideration. In the past, and that includes the most recent past, Americans have pursued such creatures under the nomenclature of 'regime change'.
What happens in time when democratic Israel has a demographic shift and Arabs form the majority? That may begin to constitute 'regime change' And then, which way will the West view the new reg
ime? Or will the present racist clique engineer politics to exclude the Arabs?

Kashmir is more to India than land and people; Kashmir is a strategic construct for India which it needs to balance and to bargain with China and Pakistan and to make a bit of noise at home to salve the shrill of Hindu racist nationalists.
